This is a collection in the series of KRISHNA the Allurer
I along with husband and daughter got the opportunity to visit the ISCON temple a few days ago on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, an incarnation of Lord Krishna. We offered our prayers followed by phalahari meals. The spiritual gurus shed some light on
spiritual matters and internal awakening.
The same people organised a kirtan program at my residence last Sunday. The senior director of ISKCON Prabhu Hanuman Das gave a small pravachan followed by a question-answer session. Those with the correct answers were awarded with a copy of the Bhagwat Gita, the holy scripture of the Hindus and a Sticker with the mahamantra –
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare.
This was followed by scrumptious shudh sattvik meals from the ISKCON kitchen displayed on banana leaves. We offered the meal to Lord Krishna before starting off.The surplus was distributed to the poor.
Just as we require two square meals a day for the smooth running of our bodily functions, likewise the chanting of the above mahamantra and the study of the Bhagwat Gita is a food for our soul. The first chapter in the Bhagwat Gita says that we are not the body, but the soul. The soul is trapped in the body from which it seeks deliverance. In order to feed the soul chanting the mahamantra Hare Krishna Hare Krishna…… and the perusal of the Gita are mandatory. The bag of goodies brought forth by Prabhu Hanuman Das was a Sanjeevani for internal awakening.
I plead and urge you to follow suit to pave way for a stress-free, happy an a successful life. Hare Krishna.
